well plug n play should work as you plug them in? Just because it is 7 doesn’t mean that is the problem? You Lost the installation disc, don’t blame the PC? USB devices work of the power bus of the Computer and are very power hungry, so if you have to many USB devices you can have power problems, especially if you have a laptop or a desktop with a low wattage Power Supply? Unplug, unused USB devices and see if things change?

Try this wireless USB card. It is in an inexpensive buy and maintains a decent connection to my router. Yes, I own one of these and can confirm it works well. According to the reviews, it works with Win7 out-of-the-box. If it happens to not work, you can download the drivers from the Ralink website.

Oh, and it also supports wireless-N at a max speed of 150mbps.

    Hi Harvey,

Check out the Windows 7 Compatibility Center. From the homepage of the Compatibility Center, follow these two simple steps:

    1. In the search option, choose “hardware”

    2. In the search box type “wireless adapter” and click on search

You will see a list of over 100 options of wireless adapters that are compatible with Windows 7.

    Hope this helps!

    Cheers,
