if your pc hardware supports 64 bit you can bed in it but you cant upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit, you will need to do a fresh bed in and bed in it from scratch

just remember two things if you want to use 64 bit OS no matter whatever it is.

1.Your Processor should support the 64 bit OS.most CPus are supported but still you need to make sure about this.

2.64 bit is useful only if you have RAM 4 GB or more.32 bit os can use RAm upto 3.2 GB only where as 64 bit can take upto 16 GB also.using 64 bit OS with 3 Gb of ram will not give you any performance boost.there will not be any difference in 32 bit and 64 bit.64 bit OS is also not supported by some softwares and hardwares.you also need to find 64 bit drivers for your hardware.

so make sure your CPU is 64 bit supported and you at least have 4 GB ram then intall 64 bit OS.
you cannot bed in 64 bit OS on 32 bit os.you need to boot the setup disk to bed in it.as you start your computer, quickly place the disk in your drive and let it boot and then bed in the OS.
