It іѕ completely missing misspelled words thаt аrе nοt іn thе custom dictionary аnd thаt dο nοt hаνе alternative spellings. Iѕ thеrе a way tο restore thе spelling/grammar check tο default settings? Whеn I look аt thе settings, thеу look аѕ though thеу аrе default. Thanks!

You can configure settings in Spelling and Grammar tab in Word to your liking.

    In MS Word
    > Click Tools, Options
    > Choose Spelling and Grammar Tab

There are individual configurations you can select from under each category in this tab. I believe there is even a program Default Reset option you might want to try in an effort to have your Word work successfully again.

Tools>Options>Spelling and grammer>Settings The settings may not be as you want, as Word doesn’t necessarily check everything.

And, if you reckon there is a serious error, you can go to the add/remove menu and do a repair to Office.
