Click on the link and try the moyea powerpoint to record conversion program. It places a logo in the top left hand corner but if you like it, buy it. It worked well for me.

You can transfer your PowerPoint presentation to avi with Leawo PowerPoint to Record Pro( http://www.leawo.com/powerpoint-record-converter/ ), as far as I know, it will preserve all the powerpoint originals like animations,transitions,record clips and sounds.
But, unluckly, it can only operate on Windows, so you may have to exchange your pp. file on a windows OS and then copy it to your iMovie.
I’ve nearly forgot that you can only input .pptx,.ppt,.pot,.potx,.ppsx,.ppx file when converting.
Simple. On the File menu choose Make Movie.
If you have sounds you’ll have to add them back in iMovie.
